From vibrant cities and iconic landmarks to monasteries suspended above the clouds, every step will be a journey through time. During our trip we will discover:

 

Thessaloniki — a vibrant city where oriental markets and historical monuments blend with a dynamic cultural life. Strolling through its streets is a journey through time, from Byzantine fortresses to modern cafés and stylish restaurants.

Meteora — ancient monasteries perched on high cliffs, with beauty and mystical atmosphere that make you forget about time, a place of peace and spiritual inspiration.

Athens — the heart of ancient civilization, where temples and monuments tell the story of Greece’s greatness.

The Acropolis — the symbol of Greece and a landmark for world history, where ancient gods and heroes come to life in the details of the Parthenon.

Delphi — the sanctuary of Apollo, the place of prophecies, where sacred mountains and valleys inspire reflection and inner harmony.

Holy sites of Thessaloniki — the city is home to over 50 Orthodox churches, and we will visit the most important ones.

Program:

Day 1: Saturday – Departure from Chișinău

At 10:00 in the morning, departure to Greece. Border crossing and overnight journey to the destination.

 

Day 2: Sunday – Thessaloniki

Arrival in Greece early in the morning. After a short breakfast stop, we head towards Thessaloniki.

Panoramic tour of Thessaloniki:

We will explore the city’s symbol, the White Tower, built in the 15th century, initially used as an Ottoman fortress and later as a prison.

We will admire the monument of Alexander the Great, a masterpiece honoring history’s greatest conqueror. We will not miss the famous art installation “Umbrellas,” which has become a modern symbol of the city.

Aristotelous Square: Free time to enjoy the charm of this square, renowned for its cafés and vibrant atmosphere.

 

Optional: A sea cruise near the city’s coast with ambient music. One drink (beer, coffee, or non-alcoholic beverage) is included in the price.

Cost: 15€ per adult, 10€ per child under 12.

Accommodation: Hotel in Thessaloniki.

 

Day 3: Monday – Thessaloniki – Meteora – Athens

After breakfast, departure to the Meteora monasteries, unique for their spectacular location on towering rocks.

  • Meteora: This UNESCO World Heritage site, built between the 14th and 16th centuries, is a complex of Orthodox monasteries, famous for its architecture and profound spirituality. We will visit two of the most impressive monasteries:
    • Varlaam Monastery: Founded in 1350, it houses frescoes of incomparable beauty and unique liturgical objects.
    • Roussanou Monastery: Dedicated to Saint Barbara, it impresses with its placement atop a steep rock.

Cost: €5 per person for each monastery.

After lunch (at your own expense), we continue our journey towards Athens.

Accommodation: Hotel in Athens.

 

Day 4: Tuesday – Athens – Delphi (optional)

In the morning, breakfast. Free day or optional excursion to Delphi (€50/adult, €40/child).

  • Delphi: This ancient sanctuary dedicated to the god Apollo was considered the “navel of the world” in Greek mythology. We will discover:
    • Temple of Apollo: The place where the Pythia’s prophecies influenced the history of Ancient Greece.
    • Delphic Theatre: With a spectacular view of Mount Parnassos.
    • Delphic Stadium: Host of the first sacred sports competitions.
    • Archaeological Museum: Home to the famous statue of the “Charioteer of Delphi.”

Cost: €50 for adults, €40 for children under 12 years.

Return to Athens in the evening.

Day 5: Wednesday – Athens – Thessaloniki

After breakfast, panoramic tour of Athens, the capital of Greece:

  • Acropolis: A masterpiece of ancient architecture, home to the famous Parthenon, Erechtheion, and Temple of Athena Nike.
  • Syntagma Square: The heart of the modern city, where the Parliament building and the Evzones guards are located.
  • National Garden: A green oasis surrounding the Presidential Palace.
  • Panathenaic Stadium: The venue of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.

Departure to Thessaloniki.

Day 6: Thursday – Holy Sites of Thessaloniki

After breakfast, guided excursion to the most important churches in Thessaloniki:

  • Basilica of Saint Demetrius the Great Martyr — one of the most venerated churches in the city. Here lie the relics of the saint, and it is an important pilgrimage center.
  • Church of Saint George (Rotunda) — the first Christian church in Greece, dating back to the 4th century AD, located near the Arch of Galerius. Inside, fragments of Byzantine and Christian frescoes can be found.
  • Panagia Achropiitos — an old Byzantine church dedicated to the Virgin Mary (Panagia), named after the icon “Achropiitos” (meaning “unpainted,” “unseen,” or “indescribable”).
  • Church of Saint Sophia — often compared to the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople (“Aya Sofya”).
  • Catacombs of Saint John the Baptist — underground structures used for burials in early Christianity. This site is believed to be associated with Saint John the Baptist.
  • Panagia Chalkeon — a true symbol of Byzantine architecture. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, it is considered an important monument of early Byzantine architecture. The church has a cross-shaped plan with a dome and is famous for its mosaics and frescoes.
  • Church of the Holy Apostles — dedicated to Apostles Peter and Paul. It houses some of the finest examples of Byzantine craftsmanship in Greece, including frescoes and mosaics.
  • Vlatadon Monastery — known for its spectacular views over Thessaloniki and its important role as a spiritual and cultural center.

After lunch (at your own expense), departure to Chișinău.

 

Day 7: Friday – Arrival in Chișinău

Return home in the second part of the day.

Informative notes:

  • Appropriate clothing is mandatory for visiting religious sites: men must wear long pants, and women must wear skirts below the knee and have shoulders covered.
  • We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and sun protection (hats, sunglasses, SPF cream).
  • If a client is traveling alone and has not paid for a single room, they will be assigned to share a room with another tourist. If, by the departure date, the travel company has no clients in the same situation, the client must pay the single room supplement.
