A place of overwhelming beauty, known as the “place with 1001 mysteries.” Here we will explore:
- Ruins of the Eastern City of Şer al-Gedid
This city of the Golden Horde, built in the 13th-14th centuries on the banks of the Răut River, was an important Tatar metropolis. According to historians, between 1363-1365, it was the residence of Khan Abdullah, future ruler of the Golden Horde.
- Ruins of the Medieval Orhei Fortress
Located on a natural peninsula formed by the course of the Răut River, this 15th-century fortress served as a Moldovan stronghold. Its walls and defensive ramparts offer a fascinating glimpse into medieval life.
- The Rock Monastery “The Cave”
Founded in the 13th-16th centuries, this monastery hidden in the rock is an impressive sacred place, offering a spectacular view over the Răut River. The tunnels, bell tower, and church carved into the stone are symbols of local spirituality.
- The Healing Cross
A stone cross located 60 meters above the Răut River. It is said that wishes spoken here with faith come true.
- The Earthly Church of the “Nativity of the Theotokos”

Considered one of the most beautiful monasteries in Bessarabia, the complex includes:
- The Church of the “Nativity of the Theotokos” – designed by Italian architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli, it is a masterpiece of architecture.
- The Church of “Saint Nicholas” – a remarkable example of Byzantine style.
- The Church Shop – a place to purchase religious souvenirs.
