Day 2: Bucharest
Arrival in Bucharest.
Bucharest, the capital of Romania, is an amazing city known for its combination of historical and modern architecture, relaxing spots, and vibrant culture. During the visit, you will explore the city’s iconic attractions, from historical monuments to green spaces, which reflect the rich history and cultural diversity of the capital.
We will visit the following tourist attractions:
Kilometer Zero Monument: Located in the center of Bucharest, this monument is the symbol of the origin of all roads in Romania. Built in 1936, it includes a wind rose with the names of Romania’s main historical regions, and measures the distance to cities such as Chișinău, Orhei, and Tighina, which were once part of Greater Romania.
Historic Old Center: A historically rich area where you can visit emblematic places like Curtea Veche, Hanul lui Manuc, and the Stavropoleos Church. This is also where the official Kilometer Zero of Romania is located. You will see the narrowest street in Bucharest, which is only 198 cm wide—just 70 cm wider than the narrowest street in Europe, located in the Rahova district.
Caru’ cu Bere: A living legend and one of the oldest beer halls in Bucharest, opened in 1879 in the old Zlătari Inn. After 20 years, it moved to Stavropoleos Street, where it is still located today. This brewery is full of tradition, and each object has its own story. It is one of the few places in Bucharest where you can still feel the atmosphere of the past, and the architecture reminds visitors why Bucharest was once called "Little Paris."
Romanian Athenaeum: A national cultural landmark. The Romanian Athenaeum, built in the heart of Bucharest more than 135 years ago (1886-1888), has hosted renowned figures and scholars from Romania. It is the place where many famous artists have performed, where masterpieces of Romanian music were premiered, and where many national and international events of great historical importance have taken place.
CEC Palace: A symbol of late 19th-century architecture, the CEC Palace was completed in 1900 and is an example of an imposing building in the French architectural style.
Constitution Square: Located near the Parliament Palace, this large square is an ideal venue for events and parades and has witnessed the most important moments in Romania's recent history.
Union Square: A symbolic place for the Small Union of 1859, where you will find impressive monuments and fountains. The square is also an important transport hub and meeting point in the city.
Victory Square: The place where Calea Victoriei intersects, the first paved street in the city. Victory Square is home to the National Museum of Natural History “Grigore Antipa,” the Geological Museum, the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant, the Nicolae Iorga Institute of History, and others.
Triumphal Arch: Originally built from wood in 1922, this monument commemorates Romania’s participation in World War I. Located in the northern part of the capital, it offers a spectacular view of the city.
National Village Museum: Opened in 1936, this museum houses exhibitions illustrating the traditional life of Romanian villages. It’s a perfect place to better understand Romania’s rural culture.
In the evening, accommodation and free time.
