Day 1

  • 20:00 – Departure from Chișinău

Day 2

Arrival in Plovdiv
Accommodation
The excursion will begin in the heart of the old town of Plovdiv. You will take a walk through the picturesque cobblestone streets of one of the oldest cities in Europe. You will see the ancient Roman theatre, the well-preserved ruins of the Roman stadium, pass by Bulgarian Renaissance-style houses, visit the churches of the Holy Virgin Mary and Saints Constantine and Helena, and learn fascinating facts about the Thracians, Romans, and the Ottoman Empire.
Plovdiv is one of the oldest cities in the world, older than Athens, Rome, and Constantinople — a contemporary of Troy. It is the second-largest city in Bulgaria, located on six unique hills in the Upper Thracian Plain, along both banks of the Maritsa River.

Day 3

Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. The main attractions are suitable both for lovers of history and architecture and for those who prefer leisure activities and shopping. Particularly fascinating is the contrast between ancient ruins and modern buildings. Here, everyone can find something to enjoy — from walks along historical streets to visiting museums, restaurants, and shopping centers.

  • Alexander Nevsky Cathedral – a beautiful 19th-century church with impressive frescoes
  • National History Museum – an extensive collection of artifacts
  • Saint Nedelya Church – an ancient open-air place of worship
  • Vitosha Park – an ideal place for walks and skiing
  • Saint George Rotunda – the oldest building in the city
  • Banya Bashi Mosque – an example of Ottoman architecture
  • National Theatre – the main venue for cultural events
  • Central Mineral Baths – healing springs in the heart of the city
  • Vitosha Street – the main pedestrian shopping area

Excursion to Veliko Tarnovo – Arbanasi

  • Visit to the village of Arbanasi – old stone houses typical of the Bulgarian National Revival era, visit to the “Holy Virgin Mary” Monastery with its miraculous icon, and the Saints Peter and Paul Monastery.
  • The city of Veliko Tarnovo is picturesquely situated, in an amphitheater shape, on the hills along the Yantra River. During the Second Bulgarian Empire (1187–1393), it was the spiritual, cultural, and political center of Bulgaria. Tsarevets Hill, with the ruins of the royal palace and the restored patriarchal church, is an impressive place where you can feel the charm of the city.
  • The walk continues past well-preserved houses from the 18th–19th centuries. On the old market street “Samovodska Charshiya”, in local workshops and stores, traditional Bulgarian souvenirs are made and sold.
