Day 2. Cluj – Rimetea – Turda

Arrival in Cluj-Napoca. We will visit the following tourist attractions:
Central Park (Lake, Pavilion, Casino): Central Park "Simion Bărnuțiu," named after one of the main organizers of the 1848 Revolution in Transylvania, philosopher, historian, and university professor Simion Bărnuțiu, is one of the main green spaces in the central area of Cluj-Napoca. It is located on the bank of the Small Somes River and covers approximately 13 hectares. Sheltering chestnut trees over 100 years old, the casino building, and the lake, Central Park constitute an oasis for locals looking for relaxation in the overcrowded city.
St. Michael's Churches: The St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church is one of the most representative monuments of Gothic architecture in Transylvania. The building was erected in Cluj-Napoca's Central Square and is among the city's emblematic monuments. It is listed on the historical monuments list of Cluj County, drawn up by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Romania in 2010. St. Michael's Church is one of Romania's most imposing religious edifices, with a length of 70 meters and a maximum tower height of 80 meters.

Muzeului Square (Minority Church, Greek-Catholic Cathedral): This is the oldest square in Cluj-Napoca, built on the location of the first fortress of Cluj. The current name comes from the fact that the Petrechevich-Horvath House, on the western side of the square, houses the National Museum of the History of Transylvania. The square also features the Carolina Obelisk, Mikes House, and the Franciscan Church.

Carolina Monument Column, Franciscan Church: Also known as the Carolina Pillar or Carolina Statue, it was erected in 1831 in the form of a monumental column. It is located in Muzeului Square. The obelisk is 10 meters high, and on its three sides, there are bas-reliefs depicting aspects of the imperial visit.

Cluj-Napoca Botanical Garden: Founded in 1920 by Professor Alexandru Borza, the Cluj-Napoca Botanical Garden is located on nearly 14 hectares in the southern part of Cluj. The botanical garden has developed over time as both a tourist attraction and an important educational and scientific space within Babeș-Bolyai University. The garden contains over 10,000 plant species from all corners of the world, organized into several sectors: ornamental, phytogeographic, systematic, economic, and medicinal. Romanian flora and vegetation are represented by plants from the Transylvanian plains, the Carpathian Mountains, Banat, etc.
We head to Rimetea, the "village of white houses," distinguished with the Europa Nostra award from the European Commission for the conservation of material cultural heritage, considered one of the most beautiful villages in Romania.

Accommodation in Turda

Turda Gorges (panoramic – visited depending on time): They constitute a nationally protected area. With a length of 1,300 m and wall heights up to 200 m, the Turda Gorges were formed by the erosion of Jurassic limestone by the Hășdate River. The Turda Gorges offer a wild karst landscape: high and steep rocks, sharp ridges, stone towers, stony valleys, arches, etc. It contains over 1,000 species of plants, animals, and butterflies, some representing rare elements.

Day 3. Turda Salt Mine – Târgu Mureș – Iași – Chișinău (approx. 560 km)

We check out in the morning.
We start the day with a visit to Turda Salt Mine.
Turda Salt Mine is now a true history museum of salt mining. The mine dates back to the 17th century, and the excellent state of preservation of the salt mining works and the equipment used for salt transportation, along with the care taken to prepare the mine to become a tourist attraction, have harmoniously intertwined history and legend here.

We head to Târgu Mureș. We will visit:

Medieval Fortress of Târgu Mureș: The fortress complex dates back to the 15th century, covering an area of 4.3 hectares in the form of a fortified enclosure with 7 bastions united by walls. Inside the fortification is the Reformed Church of the Citadel and the Museum of History and Archaeology. Both the fortress with its interior buildings and the urban ensemble around it are on the list of historical monuments.

Ascension Cathedral in Târgu Mureș: The largest religious building in Târgu Mureș, the cathedral is dedicated to the "Ascension of the Lord." The cathedral was built in the city center (currently Trandafirilor Square) between 1925 - 1934 at the initiative of Protopope Ștefan Rusu.

The Good News Church in Târgu Mureș, also known by locals as the Small Cathedral, was built between 1926-1936 following the model of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
Historic Center of Târgu Mureș: The historic center of Târgu Mureș offers a rich range of activities specific to tourism in the city. It stands out from the rest of the city through a series of historical monuments and buildings from the 17th-20th centuries. It is a place where numerous buildings constructed in Baroque, Neoclassical, and Secessionist styles, such as St. John the Baptist Church, the Franciscan Tower, the Palace of Culture, the Prefecture Palace, or the city hall, create an

atmosphere typical of the dualist period.
Departure between 17:00 – 18:00.
