Hungary is steeped in history and culture. Our neighbours are famous for their traditional dishes, so Hungary is visited by many tourists.
Hungary's picturesque towns have preserved their classic old historical attractions. Many of them clearly show influences of Italian Renaissance designers.

Meet Hungary

Climate

Hungary's climate is continental, with warm summers. Showers are frequent in summer, but in the second half of the season the land is often affected by drought. In Budapest the average temperature in July is 22° C, in January it is -1° C, the amount of annual precipitation is approx. 600 mm. The cold of winter is rarely interrupted by warmer air masses, and it happens that fallen snow remains unmelted for 30-40 days.

Tourism

Tourism in Hungary focuses on its natural landscapes and its rich historical heritage. Crossed by the waters of the Danube, Hungary has a varied landscape, including mid-elevation mountains, classic regions such as Lake Balaton, the Tokaj wine region and the Hortobágy National Reserve, which is one of Europe's best preserved plains. A special role in tourism in Hungary is played by the form of rural tourism, which highlights the centuries-old traditions of well-preserved rural regions.

Culture

Hungarian culture and architecture shows influences of Baroque, Gothic and Art Nouveau. The country has some of the finest folk traditions in Europe, producing embroidery, ceramics, wood and bone carvings and paintings. Musical contributions are equally important, from Franz Liszt's rhapsodies and the works of Ferenc Erkel to folk and gypsy music. Literature has been shaped by monumental events in the nation's history, which gave rise to odes and poems of independence.
